Bio

A young woman with glasses and wavy hair, smiling while sitting in a patterned armchair. She is wearing a black sleeveless top and white pants, with sunlight creating rainbow-colored reflections around her and on her face. Artwork featuring a face with an open mouth and fingers near the lips is visible behind her.

Hannah Greenfield’s artworks explore the relationship between the natural world, and the consciousness we as humans possess to perceive a moment.

Throughout Hannah’s work, there is an appreciation for nature, bold color and its power to impact the human experience. Her paintings feature vibrant colors of the sky and clouds, reflections in bodies of water or glass, as well as expressions and aura of humans. By capturing a moment in saturated color, Hannah aims to express the importance of observation, appreciation and perspective as humans.

Using her artistic intuition, Hannah creates from a place of meditation, or flow state, especially when creating abstract artworks. She often experiments with the relationships shared between colors or their individual natures, and how they can be used to portray emotions. Often inspired by her own life experiences, Hannah’s artwork demonstrates the power that color has on our emotions, and the way we perceive moments in our lives.

Artist Statement

I urge you to pause and enjoy colorful moments in your own life, while also realizing that perspective is important in your ability to appreciate. The idiom “every cloud has a silver lining,” inspires my work as well as the way I live. Not only must we be present enough to stop and notice the silver lining, but we also need the right perspective to appreciate it. If you don’t see the silver lining, that doesn’t mean it isn’t there, it might not be visible from where you are at right now.

In my artwork I aim to express the importance for us as humans to appreciate the colorful moments in our life, no matter how insignificant they may seem. Our human ability to observe and appreciate a moment, shape how we experience life and it is important to find joy and beauty in living.

I hope the bright colors in my art bring you a moment of presence and appreciation for a moment.
