‘Cheetah’ is a collage exploring the hidden emotions that can arise in romantic relationships. Through the deliberate arrangement of each element, down to the smallest detail, Greenfield invites viewers to engage deeply and discover personal meanings that resonate with their own experiences. The use of torn paper arranged in a mosaic pattern emphasizes the tactile qualities of paper as a medium, reinforcing the connection between material and message in this artwork.
This series explores the intersection of scientific and creative knowledge, emphasizing the harmonious relationship of innovation between science and design.
With the use of torn scraps of magazine and book paper, a mosaic pattern is seen throughout the series, creating a sense of unity and connection between the disciplines. The incorporation of gold foil serves as a symbolic element, representing excellence and the pursuit of knowledge, that drives both scientific inquiry and creative exploration. By depicting the east side of the Iowa State University campus, the location of the College of Design and the Innovation Center, Greenfield draws attention to how a place can connect intellectualism in both design and scientific advancements.
